Tucked between a stone viaduct and ancient woodland in the heart of Cornwall, we handcraft distinctive eyewear for the curious and the bold. Each frame is made from start to finish in our workshop and is shaped by hand through over 50 precise steps. Inspired by the Voyager mission, our designs are rooted in the earth but made for those who look to the stars.
Hi, I'm Jack — you might recognize me from social media, where I share behind-the-scenes videos of how our sunglasses are made. From the materials we use to the craftsmanship behind each step, I love showing what goes into creating Mosevic’s distinctive frames.
The story of Mosevic goes back over a decade, to just after I graduated with a degree in Product Design. Actually, it probably started even earlier. I remember working in a chip shop as a teenager, earning £3.50 an hour, saving every penny to buy a pair of Oakley sunglasses. I worked a lot of hours for those sunglasses — no regrets. I still have them today.
I’ve been fascinated by unusual eyewear for as long as I can remember. My mum says I used to talk about wanting to make and sell things when I grew up. I don’t remember saying that — but apparently, I’m now living out a childhood dream I have no recollection of.
Anyway, back to the timeline.
The idea for handmade, hardened denim sunglasses came about when I was making a kite board (kite surfing is one of my hobbies). I learnt how to create glass fibre by infusing glass fibres with resin, creating a durable but lightweight material. This got me thinking about what other materials could be infused with resin to create a strong material that could be crafted into sunglasses. I started off with a pair of jeans from a charity shop, draped over the kitchen counter of a house I was renting with friends at the time in Falmouth, a town I still live in today.
I tested the denim and resin composite material and cut out two glasses frames. The glasses I made from this first experiment were terrible, but it didn’t matter. I knew I was on to something. It would take the best part of ten years, hundreds of prototypes, thousands of late nights and tens of thousands of hours (probably) to grow the business to where it is today.
These days, I share the workshop with two dogs and two humans who help craft the sunglasses and run the business by my side. Together, we keep up with a growing waiting list of orders from customers all over the world—people who believe, like we do, that good things take time.
