After getting to know some weird and wonderful facts about Will a couple of months ago Karl has been eagerly awaiting his turn to sit in the hot seat to be quizzed by me!
Karl found his job at Mosevic in a very unconventional way, by turning up at the workshop on a busy summers day to have a nosey and a chat with Jack, and later ending up with a plan to move down to Cornwall to start work at Mosevic HQ. We are very much a closed workshop and don't let people visit due to how busy we are and because of the different machines and equipment being used. In this instance though I think we are very lucky for Karl's curiosity, as our little Cornish workshop wouldn't be the same without him.
So lets get started...
How long have you been working at Mosevic?
I'm not 100% sure but just over a year seems pretty accurate.
What is your favourite Mosevic frame and why?
The Kepler, I think they look pretty Badass!
What is your favourite part of the making process?
Putting the screws in because its all of the finishing touches.
Tell us about your own creations?
I make bags in my spare time. Its pretty random but I always liked the idea of working with fabric and it suited me well as I had studied product design at university. (See a picture below of some of Karl's work!)
Where are you from and why did you move to Cornwall?
I was born in Leeds, but spent most of my teenage years in Shrewsbury. I moved to Cornwall after my parents moved down here.
What is your favourite thing about Cornwall?
All the genuinely nice people.
If you could change one thing about the world what would it be?
Pretty simple but just more sunny weather in the UK.
If you could pick one super power what would it be?
Teleportation, because then I could see my friends and family all of the time.
What do you like to do on the weekend?
Surfing, Climbing, seeing family and beach! (Karl assured me he didn't mean to sound like Ken! Spoiler alert, he did not pick the Barbie movie as his favourite film)
If you could visit any place in the world where would it be?
Australia, so I can visit my half brother. I've been meaning to for the last 10 years but just haven't got around to it!
What is your favourite film?
Scott Pilgrim Vs the world. I watched it so much as a teen! I think Edgar Wright is a really good director.
What would be your mastermind specialist subject?
Fabrics and industrial sewing machines.
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be a clown. I hadn't actually thought hard about it, I didn't want the face paint, I just wanted to be silly and make people laugh.
So with that we round up our get to know Karl. He is a man who is constantly bringing new thoughts and ideas to the table, his attention to detail is what is needed to finish off our unique handmade frames and our days in the workshop are always a little brighter with his face around!
